GS-441524 is the primary metabolite of the antiviral prodrug remdesivir, and has a half-life of around 24 hours in human patients. Remdesivir and GS-441524 have been demonstrated to be effective in vitro against the feline coronavirus strains, the causative agent of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a fatal systemic disease among domestic cats.
A healthy and mature immune system of cats defends against any kind of infection or virus, which causes the formation of immune response or antibodies founded out recently. People who have FIP, their immune system develops a defect or deficiency, leading to replicating the virus instead of fighting it. The virus is then spread all through the body of the cat, and depending on the severity of the immune deficiency, it may lead to the so-called wet or dry FIP.
In order to curb the abundance of the virus, the nucleoside analog GS-441524 can be used. It essentially acts as an alternative substrate and terminator of viral RNA dependent RNA polymerase. It facilitates the interjection in the chain reaction, subsequently halting the replication of the virus. With this action, the virus is stopped from transitioning to other cells, thus allowing the cat’s immune response to occur.

Recommended dosage:
FIP(Wet): 0.3ml/kg * body weight kg + 0.1ml residue
FIP (Dry): 0.4ml/kg * body weight kg + 0.1ml residue
Eye / nerve entry: 0.5ml/kg * body weight kg + 0.1ml residue
Recurrence: 0.6 ml / kg * body weight kg + 0.1ml residue
For example, if your cat is 3kg and wet FIP, the dosage is 0.3ml/kg * 3 kg + 0.1ml residue=1.0ml per time per day.
As the treatment progresses, the weight of the cat will gradually increase. It is recommended to measure the weight several times a week and adjust the dosage in time.
